HeatPumps4Homes loves to get involved with self-build projects, and this is exactly what we did here!
Mr Grove had his own house built from scratch, but wanted to encorporate a modern and effective heating system in the process. We calculated the heat loss on the property using the SAP calculations and the proposed floor plans. This allowed us to size a heat pump correctly, in which we selected the Mitsubishi 14kW Zubadan. The location of the heat pump was a substantial distance from the cylinder, which left us no choice but to run the flow & return in thick pre-insulated pipe. This can be more expensive, but will deliver to your expectations. The pre-insulated pipework allows for minimal heat loss when the water is travelling to and from the heat pump.
We also installed all of the radiators for the customer, of which they chose the design, but we told them the size based on our room-by-room heat loss calculations. For the downstairs of the property, Mr Grove wanted underfloor heating which we supplied and fitted. This was sized to work in line with a heat pump at a flow temperature of 45 degrees.
After the installation, we commissioned the system and issued an MCS certificate for the install. This showed that everything was carried out in accordance to the MCS guidelines. Mr Grove was extremely impressed with the efficiency of his new system.
